For a few weeks I have contacted breakers and trawled the internet for a front middle window to fit a Compass Rallye gte 2000 without any success. It seems that I may have to get one made. My only problem with this is I have to send my window off as a pattern. I believe it could take up to 4 weeks. As I keep the van in storage at my favourite site I am not sure how I could make the van weather proof for a month. I was thinking of Gaffer tape and heavey duty plastic with a tarpaulin over it then the winter cover. Has any one had to do this or similar? Did it work or is there a better way?
Had to do this on the big front window on my Burstner caravan. I used a piece of plywood cut to roughly the same size as the window, with some wooden battens screwed to it to hold it in place. Then the whole lot covered by a sheet of plastic. Kept the weather out no problem.
Thanks for the replies. At least now I know that I can take the window out and leave the the caravan where it is stored. I have drilled a hole at the bottom of the crack in the window and have tried to use WC102.I think it may have been a neater job if I had taken the window out and placed it horizontal but I was reluctant to do this in case things went terribly wrong and I ended up with the window in 2 pieces. However it has to be replaced at some time. I did think that if I used plywood as suggested along with a good tape and HD plastic I could probably get a stone chip cover for the front whilst I was using the caravan so it didn't look such a disaster.
