Dose anyone have a Bailey Unicorn with noisy brakes this is our second new van in two years and both have been back for noisy brakes but always return squealing again is this the norm.
Thanks Dave
No, its a known fault on ALKO chassis for the past year or two. They apparently tampered with the brakes and they are still not good. The brakes work fine but squeal like hell. They also wear prematurely. Return to dealer under warranty.
Hi
Bought a 7 month old unicorn 4 and 1st trip out last Sunday great and returned today, with brakes squealing like a pig!!!!
Drums hot, esp rear ones.
My local Mobile fitter Rob is going to look at it next Sat and take phots etc to send to AL-KO.
May have to go back to Raymond James as supplying dealer, but with a bit of luck my Rob may be able to do it, as it is AL-KO direct problem.
When I was on a pitch this July just off the hilly site road, virtually every newish caravan that crawled down the hill had squealing brakes! Didn't pay much attention to makes & models, but was slightly incredulous that so many vans had the problem, and a bit annoyed at the sound of 1/4 miles worth of 'squealing' disturbing the peace every day as up to 10 vans arrived, if Alko have a known problem that would explain it, thankfully my 2016 van doesn't squeal!
Its not just Bailey related, title is wrong to be honest, it is a chassis issue and AL-KO are well aware of the issue.
Maybe they should be a bit on the forward foot with people, but as normal will look the other way and accuse people of misuse and abuse.
The Consumer Rights Act 2015 which I have used before on a van and got a full refund.
That's one the supplier who sold the van, and AL-KO cannot get out of am afraid.
Even after repair you still have a right to reject the Van.
