Hi, Having headaches with Carver Cascade 2. Boiler filling and draiing, water heating, pipes blockage free, nothing getting to outlet. In desperation even tried compressor to inlet, both water filled and empty boiler, still nothing at outlet. Did get some air out of pressure release valve as expected, but that's it. Seems like NRV working just some obstruction between hot water tank and outlet. Any suggestions coz I'm running out of hair to tear out and reaching for the big hammer :-) Probably something obvious I'm missing being a newbie of limitted talents.

ok here are the instructions for filling from completely drained, close drain point, fill water carrier and place pump into position/connected. turn on the power to the pump, and open hot tap furthest away from the pump, it should hiss and spit until the water runs smoothly, do this with the other taps working to the nearest tap, and then repeat for the cold water side. only then turn on the water heater, if you are using gas to heat make sure you have removed the cover on the outside of the heater. and then wait around 15 mins or so for things to get hot.

Started there originally. No progress.Have now removed Fulham output valve. As expected plastic shered and had to be gently remove plastic thread using screw drivers chisel and hacksaw blade. There is a solid obstruction behind, so decided to rempove pressure release valve before I tried to hack out blockage as this appears to be directly behind output valve. Not what I expected as looks like it's capped off externally with no visable seperation between the grey bump where I expected to find the valve and the unit itself. Did all these units come with a pressure relief valve or were some blanked off?

Just to clarify, assumed prssure leakge was coming out of a release valve when air testing, but as I'm struggling to find one I guess it must have been somewhere else like untightened drain plug for instance. So question stands. Is there always a PR valve and ehats the grey bump all about. Thanks

This has happened to me on a couple of occasions. A valve gets stuck..pressure release? One way? Anyway i have solved it by using a long artists brush or similar poked through the exterior drain hole and gently 'manipulating' the valve which is within the heater and opposite tbe drain hole. Taken longer to type than do.

Thanks for the reply, but that isn't the problem in this instance. The heater fills with water without any isssues and the water heats up. There is no problem with the one way valve as that is on the input and it works fine. The problem I'm having is getting the now hot water from the tank into the pipes. Even with output pipes disconnected and the pump on no water leaves the fulham outlet. The metal pipe leaving the tank seems to be completely blocked. In addition where manufacturers suggest a pressure release valve should be on the othe side of the unit directly behind the outlet, there appears to be a blanked off port. Nowhere can I currently find andy reference to this configuration on this heater. I'm going to get intouch with Gary at Arc Systems and see if he has ever seen it. Thanks anyway. If anyone has specific knowledge of this heater configured this way I would love to hear from you.

Ok, having spent some time poking around and speaking to local caravaners and engineers, we have come to the conclusion a previous owner has had a leaking release valve and either struggled to get a replacement or just got tired of it and decided to blag up the port with a metallic resin. Clearly a less than smart move. In doing this he has also managed to fill the outlet pipe with the resin and completely blaocked it, So we think this evening we will drill out the PR valve port and see if we can clear the blockage and retap the thread, fitting a new valve. Have decided it's worth a go as unit scrapable without a fix. If anybody has any other constructive suggestion in the mean time, please feel free to post. Will let you know. Regards

OK, results for anybody that's even remotely interested. Previous owner has damaged (cracked) the housing for the PR valve. In a desperate attempt to stop the resulting leak he has removed the valve, stuffed the opening with a metallic resin and stopped the leak by completely blocking the outlet pipe from the heater, rendering it inoperable. I should have discovered this when I purchased the van but I got it through ebay, very remotely and was off my game after a 500 mile trip to collect. Also trusted the very credible paratrooper selling the van. Lessons learned, don't buy van without thorughly checking it out. Long range purchases lead to hasty decisions. Anyway, my hero friend, the ex naval & Rolls Royce engineer has stripped it down and rebuilt it. Won't buy anything from a para in Dorset agiain, but I have a working shower now so very happy! :-)

After having no hot water in my caravan for the past year, I would like to pass on a little bit of advice to save other caravaners a whole lot of heartache of trying all sorts of advice but to no avail.
So basically the back story, after completing the North Coast 500 last year with no problems the next time out I went to fill the water tank (carver cascade 2 non pressure system). After replacing the NRV inlet twice, the outlet valve poking a screwdriver into the inlet port incase of a blockage, trying to slide a cable into the inlet port t hoping it would turn the 90° angle towards the tank to get to the blockage all to no avail. After a lot of head scratching, I read a post in practical caravan about someone who had the same problem that I was having, the solution was to back flush the tank.
1. Ensure water pump is switched off

2. Open all hot taps

3. Remove drain valve plug and open the fast drain valve

4. Insert a garden hose inside the drain valve

5. Turn tap on that is connected to the hose

This should shift any blockage between the inlet valve and the tank itself, let the tank fill til the taps start running. Once you've taken the hose and let the tank drain close the quick drain valve and replace drain plug hopefully your tank will fill freely.
