Hi I have a Swift Corniche 15/4 - 2011 model. Basically is a 2011 dealer special of the Swift Charisma.
My middle front window has started to delaminate down the LHS and I am intending to get some of that bondright acrylic glue to rebond it. However, I am unsure of how to remove the window from the caravan.
I have read posts on this topic and searched for utube videos, and it would seem easy??? Lift it up after removing window stays and it should unhook. Is that really it???
My front 3 windows sit in a recess and it's the big one in the middle that has delaminated.
Can anyone describe to me in detail how I can remove this window? Will I need to take all 3 out to remove it?
Do you think I could achieve a repair in sutui? and get a good result? And save myself the removal??
Thanks in advance of any advice given.
Cheers!
You can remove any window on it's own, the three front ones use a common track thats all. My side one was delaminated recently and I removed & repaired it whilst on holiday in France, it's quite easy.
As you say, just remove the stays on the window of choice and lift the window up until it's almost horizontal. A gentle pull and it will slip out of the track and you can work on it easily. The fitting in the top of the window on which it hinges isn't round in profile as you'd expect but semi circular and designed that way for ease of removal. I used a plastic adhesive called Bison as it is specifically for that material but make sure the surfaces are clean and use bulldog clips or similar to keep the sides together whilst they set.
The alternative is to send the window off for repair before you do anything, they won't touch it if it's been tampered with. see here
