Hi all

We bought a 1992/3 Abi Ace a couple of years ago knowing that it had had water problems,damp that had been sorted out but the passenger side front corner always looked slightly crooked.

When were leaving the campsite this year we had a misshap with the jockey wheel being pushed up going through ruts and disconnecting the hitch. When we got the caravan back onto the car we could see that the passenger corner joint that runs up the side of the van had opened up ( been pulled apart )

I'm thinking that the cover strip that runs up the awning runner comes out and that it's covering screws that are supposed to be holding the front and sides together , is this right? I've also found that the floor in that corner is very soft and crumbley ( water damage! ).

Am I on the right lines ? Are there any particular ways of sorting it out ?

Not intending to spread gloom,but if that has pulled away you will probably find the timber frame it is fixed to has rotted.

I was thinking along similar lines , am I looking at front off or could it be done just on the one side ?

You can strip from inside out thats what I did with my front end rot. I didnt do floor as that was ok
