Hi all,
I am in the process of repairing our caravan which I have discovered has fallen victim to the dreaded damp in one rear corner.
I have read a lot of the forums and I am quite skilled, so confident that I can tackle this successfully.
I identified the source as the awning rail, which has been removed, cleaned, re-sealed and refitted.
I have stripped off most of the ply and beginning to remove the damaged wood and insulation. I currently have 2 questions which I would be grateful for any of your thoughts on:
1. Can anyone recommend a solvent to help taking things apart? Some of my damaged timber and polystyrene in the wall is still firmly attached to the aluminium skin. I am reluctant to scrape at the inside of the skin in case I create more damage.
2. Is there anything special about the insulation used in the floor? Would the rigid boards as used in the construction industry (usually with a foil skin) make a suitable replacement?
Thanks in advance, fellow van fixers!
