Got a dent in the side of caravan, well a deepish ding really and before I cover it with a badge or sticker or whatever or even a vent I would like to go down the path of just reducing the impact on the eye to see if that would do. Its a 7 year old van and I am by no means a perfectionist.   I was wondering if anyone has had experience of superfine white Milliput putty as a filler,   I will still fill it even if I end up covering it just wondered if the stuff is any good

Milliput is too hard, you need a soft aluminium based filler, but before you do it check the dent as they're usually surrounded by a raised ripple, like a ripple in pond.

I think it will fill to an acceptable degree but I take your point on the hardness I suppose it may burst free from the body with the vibration    I was just thinking of the ease of application being in putty form and white

If you want to rub milliput down you will have to be very careful as the amount of pressure you use, with soft filler it doesn't take much pressure and doesn't leave a bigger dent.

I was looking at dent pulling on YouTube one process appeared to use a glue gun the dent was then eased out without damaging paint. The van sides are very thin and alloy may be worth a try.

As I said earlier the dent will have a raised area surrounding it, as the aluminium is soft the puling will make it more so, ok on steal but should be avoided on aluminum.

I have put a straight edge over dent and it hasn't bulged out at all it is more of a deepish crease really. Anyway I am not going anywhere near it until I am familiar with whatever material I choose and because the skin is not broken I think it will have to wait for the good weather next year now

A crease is a different beast altogether and easier to deal with, Davids P38 Easy Sand filler is the one I'd go for

As Paul_B says a dent in aluminium stretches it slightly and it doesn't like to return to it's original contour unlike steel so may well bulge out if pulled. I had a dent in my door and used P38 with great effect.
