cheers guys as soon as we get a decent day of weather i will be giving it a go. i had covered the van with a tarpaulin to stop any more water ingress. the problem i had was the van is on our drive but the side i need to work on is 4" from the wall of the house. i have had to widen the drive by 3' so i can move it over to do the work. if its ok i will put some photos as i go

When refitting the rail I used very long panel pins pushed into screw holes to act as guides.. pictures of mastic I used.... flattened end of nozzle to apply onto rail..
