Hi all
I have an Abbey Avantage 2004 SL. Our (now ex) mobile service man told us we has some damp and he promised to do the work. At the time he said it would be a small repair but it has got a lot worse and now a small section by the front window in the lower corner is now very spongy and was wet to the touch the other morning. While we are away.
. Because we liked him we kept persevering but he let us down. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced repair shop in herts or on the Herts boarders. What is the hourly repair rate? My damp meter is now showing 32 when it was originally 22. Any advice will really be appreciated
If it’s gone up that much it’s more than damp, you have a leak! Try and suss out where the water is getting in, window seal.? Once you’ve done that you may be able to sort it yourself and dry it out
Thanks for the quick reply, it’s not the window as I did have a good look. It seems to be on the side of the van but near the front. Do you think I could just stop the leak and dry it out?
Mike
Yes Mike I do if it’s not done too much damage, could it be getting in via the grab handle? Or the join along the side of the van. Have a really good dig around and you’re sure to find the source, it’s only what a caravan engineer would do, and charge a fortune for doing it!
