Having traveled 200 miles to pick up a 2017 Lunar Ariva we were told was immaculate - and we asked loads of questions of the buyer before we made the journey - we luckily noticed this





To say we were disappointed is a massive understatement ☹️😡☹️
Luckily we were going to pay cash and had only paid out for insurance mirrors diesel for the journey .....
But we can’t work out what they have done to this van 🤔🤔 any ideas?
Oh and if you seen a 2017 lunar Ariva for sale in the Cannock area - be wary and check carefully.
So we got back in the car and drove back 200 miles 😡😡😡 they would have let us buy that van - luckily we spotted it. Feel lucky.

How anyone can advertise that as immaculate is beyond belief. Would have been an expensive repair. Did you take a damp meter with you as I bet damp had got in with water running down the front. A new window would of been the lowest cost and they are not cheap. They were trying to get rid of it with Lunar going into liquidation. Found the advert it now advertises crack. The blue strip covering it also is not correct should go full width of window. Advert reads suspect the story selling on behalf of others.

Yes just found the advert on gumtree - the owner said yesterday that they bought it like that in August - so they did know about it when they told us it was immaculate and were hoping we wouldn’t spot it. The trim inside was all curled up - if they had left the crack like that for two months it must be riddled with damp. They had one of those damp absorbers in there as well. Shame - lovely van. Dealer next time for us I think but at least they have said it has got a crack - wouldn’t want anyone else to be disappointed or get ripped off. Lesson learned.
But what do you think they did? The window isn’t broken - can’t work it out how you could just crack that bit!!

I have seen several cracked panels like this on other forums and most were caused when the caravan was built,the GRP or ABS panels were not pre-drilled for screws or the screws were out of line with the holes. This stressed the panels and then after time they split. You can see it starts from the joint strip which is screwed on under the word Ariva We had the same thing with a back panel on an Elddis a few years ago when it was two years old.As I see the problem with Lunars now is if they can't been repaired it may be new panels will not be available unless new owners are willing to honour warranties. For now I would steer clear of the brand and see how it pans out with the new owners taken over.

Unless buying privately it is always wise to use a credit card to pay a deposit or to have some on finance. That way you are protected.
We would never buy privately again as the money saved we had to spend on repairs a couple of months later.
