Hi ... I am having some difficulty with my heating when on electric. Works fine on gas but not on electric. I had drained down the water system ready for the winter. To check if the electric elements were working refilled the water system and switched on the water heater. Bingo, the water was hot and so was the heating. I am sure I've had heating on without water heater. Last winter I left heating on low, 8°, and water heater was off ...... or was it? Any ideas what might be going on here or am I mistaken in thinking that heating system will work without water heater switched on? Any thoughts would be appreciated
Once there is water in the Alde system the radiators will get warm. At this point the hot water tank will contain its 18l or so and this water will be warm due to the heat exchanger effect of the Alde boiler.
In our van we get hot radiators without a water source connected and hot water too if we have an aqua roll connected - obviously the aqua roll just replenishes the water in the hot water tank if any water is drawn off via the hot taps.
If we don’t have an aqua roll connected we do not draw water off the hot water system but I would expect it to be hot if we did.
This works on electricity, gas or both.
