Ive got a lunar premiere 5 birth 1995. First caravan ive owned.
Im having issues with the electrics. The leisure battery is dead as a dodo, ordered a new one, but i don't seem to be getting a charging supply to it when the ehu is plugged in. Doesnt matter what position the car/off/van switch is at. Or the red charging switch on the same part of the panel.

Ive had the whole unit out, and from reading some posts on here, it looks like the battery charging system is built into the pms6.

Im assuming that with the ehu plugged in, i should get 12v out. Tried with battery connected and disconnected.

Can i repair the pms6, or would it be easier to replace with a suitable unit. Guessing that the pms6 being 25 years old, any second hand replacement i find may also have issues either now or later down the line.

I have no issues with working 12v electrics, but struggling with this control panel and how exactly caravan electrics are supposed to work.

Quite happy to swap the whole unit out completely for another make etc.

Simple one to start with. The EHU lead may be plugged in but you need to prove the mains 230volt is actually in the van.

On the bottom panel, consumer unit, the left hand switch is the main switch which is also an RCD. All switches including this one should be up. Then press the test button on the main switch. The main switch should trip. If it doesn't it proves the mains 230volt isn't getting to the van.

If it does trip, reset the RCD by putting the main switch up.

Did you find you had mains electric in the van when the EHU was plugged in? If you have it would indicate that the unit is providing mains voltage but the charger side of it may be goosed. You could always fit a cheapo Aldi/Lidl smart charger for about £15 and a few hours work...I've recently done it.

Looking at the photo supplied it looks like the RCD is switched off?
