My Whale blown air heater on my 2019 Eldis Xplore 304 works quite well and being out of the way under the floor really is a space saver. Having caravanned most of my life I'm disappointed that the heater has 3 problems:-
1.) It has an irritating high pitched whine/whistle when in operation. Asked the dealer to check it out but advised operating normally. By chance spoke to one other owner of an identical model and he confirmed that he had the same issue. Has anyone experience of this problem?
2.) The air intake for the heater is at floor level, taking in air through a circular grille. Anything that obscures the grill causes the heater to stop, obviously. So any blanket, cushion or dog's bed is a problem. Why can't the intake be in the space under the seat next to the warm ducting?
3.) All the warm air ducting is the same diameter, so the result is that next to the heater there's a lot of of air coming out but as you get further away the warm air becomes a trickle. Any ideas?

No ideas, but we had the same problems with the Whale system on an Explorer group van plus many other niggles. We were fortunately in a position to cut our losses and got an excellent deal from our dealer on a different van.

I am not a specialist on these heaters so all this is second hand from experience and the engineer at the van manufacturer.
On our whale heater the air in / out are both external (under the van).
Originally we just had warm air outlets in the walls near the floor but recently the engineer fitted an internal air inlet on the same wall as the outlet. Apparently this is legislation driven? I don’t see any reason that the inlet could not be moved further up the wall as long as it opens into the same space as the heater unit.

Agree about the second point. We just partially close the flap nearest the heater and that increases the flow to the other outlets.

Can’t say we have had the fan noise problem but that may be down to me being ancient.

Original design had a pair of ducts, (one above the other), in the bed bunk, top one hot air outlet and bottom sucking in cooler air to reheat. The heater itself was just behind in the bed box so ducting just a few inches long.
Regards noise then, main problem may well be vibration caused by the air flow through the heater being transmitted by that same air expelling into the living space.
Possible solution is sticking damping pads to the thin metal case of the heater itself and its outer weather case may also help.
Regarding poor hot air distribution, this could be related to the noise, ie cool air ducting to fan, or fan itself, being clogged so restricting throughput which would also exacerbate vibration and noise.
Their currently shut, but the people at Propex maybe more helpful than your dealer or Whale on your specific diagnostics

I wouldn't agree with that, never found anything to commend the archaic E series truma blown air . The whale is the propex but updated, noise problem came with it and original solution didn't solve it but I've been informed since, acoustic pads have

Thank you again Arc Systems for the advice. I will be contacting Propex when they reopen.
