HI

Just bought my first caravan just before lock down and looking forward to getting out in it soon
How does the Tv ariel work as tried it on the drive but no signal
Is it better to use an external ariel?
Is it worth putting an external socket on the van for the awning?

Thanks

Before you can get any specific advice we need to know what type of aerial you have fitted.
Is it a circular disc or a teardrop shape. The former doesn't need adjusting on site whereas the letter needs to be raised and rotated to face the transmitter when on site.
You should also have a signal booster, usually tucked away in a wardrobe.
You will also need to re-tune the television each time you arrive at a new site.
As I say,let us know which type of aerial you have and I am sure that you will get some specific answers.
You do not need any additional external aerial.

From looking online, a 2005 Bailey Pageant Auverne has the circular type with the spike.

XVI yes?

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

That would be the 'Status' 330 omni-directional aerial on a 2005 model. Earlier caravans that had the same roof aerial was a 315 model which I believe the power pack was different.

Ok,so thanks to the two guys above, it looks as though you have the round omni-directional aerial. That makes life easier because you don't need to point it towards the transmitter.
So, first find your aerial booster. This is a small white box, probably in a cupboard underneath the aerial. Turn it on and a red light should come on. You will need to ensure that your 12 volt system is on.
Connect your television to the aerial and mains sockets, turn on and tune the television. All should be working.
If it doesn't there are two main faults.
1. The caravan is too close to the house which is blocking the signal.
2. One or more of the coaxial plugs or sockets are not correctly wired. The braiding inside becomes loose -- an easy job to check.
Good luck, DaveS1
