Hi guys we have a 1996 Sterling Sprite Eccles 390/2 it is great condition apart from some damp.
I have fixed the damp in the bathroom replaced 50% of the side wall towards the back wall.
the left side was showing 5% to 11% and the rt showed 35% and 25% now shows 0% to 5 %.
The rest of the van shows 5% to 12% all walls apart from under windows shows 16% to 20% for last 12 months.
Now to my other damp problem right side there is a damp patch just 3 ins bellow and 9 ins above the bed frame an 14 ins across to wardrobe wall.
damp readings from the left 26% then 3 9 % then right side 49%
The funny thing is that bellow the 26% section it shows 11% to 4%// under the 39% it shows 16% to 5% // under the 49% it shows 18% and 15% to 6% at bottom.
What do you think I should do ? fix or leave it allone Wife wants to keep the van it gave us 3 weeks hols in cornwall last yr no probs.
And we are in no position to upgrade it.
been caravanning for over 25 yrs and paid for a guy to do damp in our prev vans lots never had any lol.
Is your battery box under the bed? If so it might be worth resealing it around the outside of the battery box locker frame plus water pump inlet , water heater vent and any other bits of trim and see if that cures the damp it’s worth a try if you don’t fancy pulling the van apart to repair it
