We purchased our Bailey Pageant Bordeaux S6 last year but have not had the chance to use it properly until now. I have filled the water container with water and added puraclean. I have powered up the pump and made sure the air is out of the system. I then noticed that the mixer tap for the sink is leaking from within the tap itself. I have no idea how the tap can be taken apart insitu, can anyone please advise. We have come to our new seasonal pitch in the middle of Wales and quite remote.
I am wondering if something has come loose within the tap and needs tightening up and cleaning, maybe some sort of washer or if the tap needs replacing. Would it be possible to isolate the tap temporarily with ordinary household plumbing stop ends?
I would appreciate any comments or suggestions. Thank you.

The pipe work on caravans and motorhomes is much smaller than domestic fittings so normal stop end will not work.
Have a look on line to see if there is a caravan spares company near you or even a mobile repairer that can offer you advice.
I’m sure there will be someone this forum who has experienced this problem before
Just had a look on the net and there is a utube video on how to fix a leaking tap for your model.

Thanks for the post Basa.

I looked on youtube as you suggested and feel pretty sure that it is the ceramic cartridge valve. I have taken pot luck and ordered one on line.

I thinned out my tool box before we came away and one of the things left behind was Allen Keys which I need to remove the top of the tap.

However I feel more confident about fixing it now.

There are dozens of different types of cartridge taking the original to a dealer is best so you can match it.
I had trouble with a leak on our last van water would accumulate around the base of the tap when not in use, I replaced the cartridge but it still leaked, I wrapped kitchen towel around it to absorb the water and changed it regularly, I suspected that the tap would have been in need of replacement

Thanks for the replies.
As I have said I am unable to remove the grub screw at the top of the tap at the moment. I will be going home in a couple of days and hopefully pick up the ceramic cartridge. I will then return with allen keys and see if it fits and if it solves the problem. If not I am thinking I will have to find an mobile engineer to sort it. In the mean time I will give it a go and take a few photos and post - it may be help full if it works and if it doesn't words of wisdom for others. I will update later.

We had a similar problem with our kitchen tap. Stopped using it while away just filled the sink from a kettle. Tried to cure it by changing the cartridge (not a difficult job) but it still leaked. My local mobile service man came out to service the van and had a look. He had to take the sink out to remove tap but found that it was a broken washer causing the problem. Using PTFE tape he has now cured the leak. Passing this on for information !! as a new tap could be costly.

The grub screw is most likely to be a small Allen screw, it was on my Series 7 when I changed mine.

I think senior moments - as I meant say say Allen screw and not grub screw.
So I had the system filled with Puraclean which I left over night and thought regardless of the tap leak I had to flush it through this morning.
Got at about the end of the Aqua roll and the pumped stopped and refused to do any more. I turned the pump off checked the fuse which was ok and left it for a while and tried again but no luck. I did wonder if the filter in the barrel was blocked so removed it but I thought that I should have heard the pump. To me it seems the pump has died but I don't know enough about the electrics and if it could be anything else. I have managed to contact a mobile engineer who hopes to fit me in next week. Not sure if there is anything I can do in the meantime.

The Puriclean in the system overnight shouldn't have done any damage to the pump. It could be defective but as that's a lot more expensive if it is an on-board pump so let's try everything else first.

If you have a multimeter and can use it on DC volts, it makes testing for power and tracing the fault a lot easier.

Perhaps the pressure switch is defective? In your system, the pump gets a power feed to run from the pressure switch, it also switches it off when the system is full. It may be near the water inlet, or if you have an onboard pump, inside it. In either case, there will be 2 wires going to it, (most important, not the power wires, the switch wires), carefully shorting them together should run the pump if it's duff.

Thanks for your reply.
I have had a look at connections, although the fuse checked out ok with the multimeter I repeated the check and put the fuse back and low and behold the pump worked!
With regards to the ceramic tap fitting there is somebody here with the same caravan, and he confirmed I had ordered the correct size.
When the pump comes on I can certainly hear it, is that normal?

That sounds like a poor electrical connection in the fuse holder, keep an eye on it in case it's corroded.

Try going on the Bailey Prima Leisure site and in the parts section input your Vin number here is the link Bottom left-hand corner.

Only the parts for your caravan model and year will be selected to view, you may find your tap details, look up the replacement ceramic cartridge from there. I bought mine and a spare too from eBay for a few quid each, much cheaper than the OEM.
