I know there is a similar post live at the moment but I don't want to hijack it.
I have similar issues, but thought that replacing the tap ceramic valve, then the tap seals, which cured the leak at the tap would actually cure the pump coming on quite frequently, but it didn't. I have ordered the water inlet as the flap hinge is broken. Reading comments on the similar post I it may well be pointing to the non return valve.I am not really sure where the non return valve is, a part of the pump maybe. If this is the case, until I am able to tackle this, is it ok (and not detrimental to the system)to fit an additional in line non return valve?
Mine is not a pressurised system, it is one controlled by microswitches in the taps, but I have fitted an inline non-return valve to mine without any problems. I had issues with water running back when a tap was turned off, resulting in a long wait when a tap was next turned on. Cured my problem without any ill effects. I can't see why it would hurt a pressurised system. I had a similar pressurised system on my boat, and that had an inline non-return valve.

Hi Rich, I had a similar problem on my S7 Bailey Pageant, every now and then the pump would kick in, most noticeably at night of course. I have a sneaking suspicion it's your onboard pump head that is defective, as mine was. Both the pressure switch and the non-return valves are built into it. A bit of an expensive pig, but buying the head only is a lot cheaper than the whole thing. Whale recon they need changing every 5 years on average.
Hsve a look here

The van is 2007 Bailey Pageant Bordeaux. I will have a look at the tank in the morning, it is under the bed and it is just been made up.
A 2007 model van will most likely have a Truma hot water tank installed which is a low round tank usually grey in colour which in I'm not that familiar with unfortunately. If it had been the older Carver tank then I have experience with repairs of the non return valve that's why I asked what year the van was. Hope you get sorted anyway.

Thanks for taking an interest, it is a Truma.
As Pickled Onion posted it is most likely to do with the pump and inbuilt features so I have ordered a head replacement for pump. It will be a week or so I guess before I try and get it sorted but I will update on the progress.
I have looked at Youtube videos on pump head replacement and noticed that the pump was mounted on a couple of sheets of rubber. Is this to try and make it less noisy? Final question, the easi fit (?) connectors used do they come apart by rotating or squeezing. Probably simple to some but never worked on this and being in the middle of nowhere I would hate to wreck it by pulling it when it should be rotated.

Dave
Sorry, I thought I had acknowledged your info re pump.
I have ordered a pump head and the water inlet, so hopefully the back end of next week I will get it sorted then on to the next annoyance.
Hi connectors come apart easy, just press the ends in, hold in and pull pipe out, have a look on YouTube.

Ah, those sort of connectors. I have used them myself but couldn't remember what they were called.
