On site and dometic fridge on 2014 elddis avante just stopped working.Checked fuses and board and all OK. No power getting to it?everything else working.on level and has been fine for the last fortnight. Is there a hidden socket somewhere as for the microwave?have searched every cupboard and no joy in case I have knocked something out.Is it possibe to pull out fridge to check for socket and loose wiring?
Take the vent off on the outside and you should see the input power lead, put a meter/tester on the terminals and see if there is power. I don’t think there is a plug as such I think it’s a direct connection
I have an elddis Motorhome and I think the fridge power comes direct from the fuse board.
Does the light come on in the fridge, good indication
No totally dead.no lights at all.Usually with this model there are fault finding lights that alert to a problem but it just seems to have gone dead. Can't get outside panels off as it typical elddis fashion, when we first got van the panels kept falling off so panels have been glued down! (not by us!)
Got part of panel off.(a small vent?)covering had slipped and have clipped back but the rest of panel won't budge and don't want to force.van in for service on 10th Aug .Got an electric cool box and home on Tues. Just thought I'd try simple fixes first.. although nothing in this van (bought new in 2014 )is ever simple.every holiday something breaks!
Are the 240v sockets working?
Sometimes it’s the simplest of things that we all have missed
Just looked on Internet “Dometic fridge stopped working’ and there are several threads, quite a few stating there are 2 fuses at the back (depending on model) good luck
Are you on ehu?
Does it work on gas? Post last edited on 01/08/2020 22:55:55
It sounds like a fuse to me if all other 240v plugs work. Does the fridge work on gas ? It may be worth trying that to establish if there is something broken within the fridge itself.
The fuses are for the 12 volt circuit only therefore you need to be checking the MCB trip switches which will most likely be on the same circuit as some other appliance as well such as the mains lighting or battery charger etc. If the fridge has tripped the mains it may not be a fault as sometimes the MCB itself can become defective which I found out about 3 years ago having an identical problem with the hot water tank.
Bizarrely took off the control (battery)panel on fridge to see if something loose. At first no joy but after dusting off the circuit board inside and shoo gling the wires the fridge lit back up and started to work so have secured at the point where it all connects and at least it will work tiIl we get home.must be a loose connection somewhere.Thank you all for your responses.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Gets better...packed up today.switched off everything,(including battery switch) unhooked from mains and guess what?fridge wouldn't switch off.lit up and flashing good style.Don't you just love caravanning!phoned the dealer so hopefully will get sorted at service. Were in Dumfries and Galloway so weren't troubled by good weather or heat which is just as well.Wouldn't be caravanning if nothing broke!
