First time away thanks to covid and all wintered well however toilet wouldn't flush did the usual fuse fan on pump but nothing

Then saw a brown wire had come away from flush switch, opened to find more corrosion than anything and unlikely to solder or repair,

Looked online at replacements but from my flush switch there are two leads one goes direct into pump and the other into wall of van, on all replacements I've seen it looks like the new switches have connectors, do I have to strip wire back and connect them? Seems a bit strange with it being in flush tank and can't seem to find any others, and help would be appreciated

Chris

Have a look on the thetford website under support, there are installation manuals which I believe show you the electrical connections and colours of the wires and where they go to

Push on connectors are often used for the speed of assembly but I don't think it makes much difference which way you connect the wires to the switch, (crimp or solder).

The switch is in series in the circuit so it doesn't matter which way round you fit the wires so long as the contacts used are normally open, often marked as (NO), so that pressing the switch momentarily closes the contacts and supplies the pump with power, release and it stops.

Many thanks all,

The wires to the switch (brown) look like at one time they were soldered on and one I reconnected brown wire it sparked but pump came on but sadly stayed on, it looks like it is the c200 cwe switch and looks like it needs replacing as it looks battered (maybe someone with a soldering iron and know how could do it) but not me the sparks had me thinking I'd have the van alight 😁,

My main concern was the other end as the end going into pump looks like it was fitted and the end going into van appears pretty secure too I'm concerned I may have to rip the lot out or at least pay over odds for repair,

Bottle of water with a dash of pink seems best option at minute

Thanks again all

Hi Chris,

If you don't have access to a crimp tool, you can buy small lengths of wire with the 'spade' connector attached, look here.

Plus you needn't touch the pump at all, just connect to the existing wire that goes to it. Crimp butt connectors are good but it really needs the proper tool to do the crimping, or a section of screw terminal block, like this would do the job and neither involve heat.

Hi guys

Had a trip to a couple of stores yesterday would have seemed easier to ask for Turin shroud if I'm honest 😂 so I have found a couple online

I'm sure it's pretty straight forward as has been messaged on here (thanks again) but this is my switch

You can see it's the brown wire that has come away and when I connect it to the other brown wire the pump runs and runs but switch is giggered so does need replacing,

Before I fork out 30odd quid you will notice there are no existing connectors so will I have to strip wires back and connect? If so what is best to use?

Also might be a daft question but are these connectors water tight? Will miosture from cistern affect it?

Sorry for daft questions just trying to save a world of pain later

Again that's for any help you can give
Chris

In June our 200cwe toilet flush would not work I narrowed it down to problem being the push button was defective got a replacement from Leisure Shop direct part no 237090, cost about £20 and came with no connectors

Googled/Youtube which gave me a good idea what to expect and found how to connect it up (I used block connectors for the two wires) maybe not the best way but fixed it and still working after travelling to France and back

I was quite nervous cutting wires but on reflection the job was quite simple.
