you need to be asking for 8 ply commercial tyres in that size, your best speaking to your local tyre fitter/supplier of choice, do not get normal car tyres! the side walls arent up to the job

If you buy online how do you get them fitted and balanced? I am also looking for some tyres for my caravan, although I may leave it until next year as I'm not sure we are going to use ours this year.

I asked my local tyre fitter to fit for me. Which he did no problem.

If the van is under 700kg fully loaded then 155/80x13 tyres will be ok. Just slightly higher sidewalls. This is a pretty standard trailer size tyre so no probs with supply. Any tyre depot will be able to get them & fit & balance them.

How did the total cost compare with buying straight from the tyre fitter, if you don't mind me asking. I may go down the same route.

Your max mtplm is 685kg, so you are looking at 350kg per tyre.
Loads of standard tyres at 75 rating 387kg load rating. This meets your requirements but if you want a safety margin then go for 165/70/13 which have plenty of choice at 79 or 80 rating. As long as you rim is wide enough (which it should be) then it is 13mm diameter bigger and 10mm wider.

The reason I bought online was that none of the local tyre fitters had exactly what I wanted. I wanted to replace with what was recommended for the caravan. I found out about the online shop through there. The tyres arrived in 2 days and I had fitted shortly after that. As far as I can remember there wasn’t a big difference in total price but I had the security of knowing that what was recommended was what I had in the caravan.

Francis

Thanks for that info Francis. Probably not a lot of point for me then as I know there are a few places around here that I can get appropriate tyres for my caravan without all the hassle.
