Hi all, this is my first post as ive recently purchased my first caravan. Its a 2000 abbey vogue gts. Lovely little starter van but its been a right project, unknown to me at time of purchase... yes i know i should of checked it all but in the heat of the moment and with it being my first caravan viewing things just slipped my mind. Anyway i would like to share with you just one of my problems i have come across...
The thetford cassette toilet doesnt flush
Ive checked the 10amp fuse in the main control panel and ive checked the fuse in the cassette area. Ive pulled the loo roll holder away and cut the wires (originally thinking the pump was goosed) before fitting the new pump i thought id check for a voltage from the wiring... 0volts
Has anyone else come across this before i start ripping the caravan apart for wiring checks.... or my hair in that matter
All you can do is follow the wires back to the start. Theres obviously a break in them somewhere. Wires should be pretty easy to follow under seats etc.

i would guess the problem would be at the push switch..

Not if theres no juice in the wiring.
Could very easily be the switch; if the op has tested for voltage to pump wiring, this will be after the switch.
If the test were made to the pump wiring, one assumes hopefully that the op completed the test while the pump switch was being operated? Has the supply prior to the switch been checked? If no supply, then you'll need to investigate backwards, even cobble a supply to the switch/pump to test their operation.
Hello and thanks to all that have replied.
Yes i did check the voltage when the switch was pushed lol. And yes i have also tested wiring prior the switch on the main feed in and had 0v. Ive also bypassed the wiring from the fuse to the main feed into the toilet. And again it doesnt work, which tells me the switch is also goosed. But it works if i bypass the wiring and the switch and go directly to pump and it works, which has confirmed to me that the earth side of the wiring is fine. i think i have an issue with live feed in and the switch itself.
So if i cant work it out im just going to renew the wiring from behind the fuse board and put my own push button switch in. But i would like it to be as it should...
But since this post i have found many more issues so ill be posting a few more i think lol.
Just a quick post to say i have now found the route cause to the issue now, i had a corroded wire underneith the toilet itself. I suspect its had a repair beforehand as it was on a spade connector. I also removed the switch wiring and sprayed with contact cleaner.
I now have a working toilet 😁
As well is two words!
