Need advice r/e water pump keeps burning out even when submersed. I am thinking of cutting the old pump off and removing the electrical feed. Then connecting the water pipe via a connecter and clips to another length of hose and then connecting to the water tap. The big question is will it work or flood the van. Thanks for reading.

the question is why is your pumps burning out? the pump should only work when you turn a tap on, and then switch off. you need to sort that issue out first
and yes it will flood the caravan due to too much pressure
You should be able to buy a mains water connector that connects the caravan straight to the tap but has a pressure reducing valve on it so you can make sure the pressure doesn’t blow your caravan pipes and flood the place. I’m not sure I would be comfortable with a home made version without the pressure reducing aspect.
It's not normal for a pump to keep burning out for no reason so the problem needs addressing before trying to find an alternative method of delivering the water to the caravan. The fuse should blow first if there is an electrical fault but to put it in a nut shell, two wrongs don't make a right so the most sensible solution is to get a service engineer to trace and rectify the underlying fault.
I have had a engineer out twice to the caravan, each time buying a new pump, a new pressure switch and the two bills together came to £140, and the third pump still burned out, despite haveing a whale device fitted that guaranteed that the pump could not burn out.

The pump can only burn out by spinning for too long, (or dry). Or, is there a chance somehow mains leccy is getting to it though a wiring bodge? If its the former, it shouldn't be running when there is no draw off.

then its time to get a different guy in that knows what he is doing, clearly the one you have used doesnt have a clue.
