So in my 2006 silvercreek caravan the slide out motor stopped getting power to it about 5 years ago so for the last 5 years I have been using jumper cables to connect the motor to the battery to power it red and black for going out and just black for going in. Now last week I thought I would have a look at the issue it turns out the positive and negative cable to the motor were corroded so I replaced them now it works but only going out. The positive and negative cables both work so I don't know I tried the jumper cables and it works fine could you help me please?

Have you proved you have power to motor when using conventional controls? it may be a control problem since it works with the jumpers both ways and out using the control

showing 13.4 volts on a meter means very little..

i think you need to get someone with a little more knowledge to have a look at it..

You may well have a relay in the circuit that swaps the polarity to the motor to drive it in/out, it sounds like it's not working. That action is similar to you doing it manually.

From your original post it seems there is nothing wrong with the motor, since you said you were able to operate it by connecting wires manually.
You have now rewired it and it fails to retract the slide outs.
Logically it means you have done something wrong in the rewire or as someone else suggested you have a problem with the controller itself I.e it is not giving the command to the motor to go in reverse.
Auto electrical needed to trace.

maybe time you had it seen to by people that deal with american units, if you wish i can give you some contacts, 2 of them allow you to stay with your van while they do the work required. I hope the transformer you were on about in your other post is not a yellow box one, but proper units which are grey If you would like me to post contacts for you let me know on here
I take it your slide works on a cable pully system to motor rather than hydrolic rams

Maggie

yellow box transformers are not good (builders boxes)which are not designed for continual use, proper regulated transforemers are grey and are designed for continual use with proper step up/step down compnaents and protection.
you rams may need a service and clean have you checked the system for leaks and dirt and are the seals in good order with no splits. you should also have a backup internal winding point probably under the seating or bed set up depending on where your slides are
