Hi all, I have just fitted the colour display upgrade for our Alde 3010.
Question, on powering up the pump circulation symbol came on in the top left corner and pump was running, this was on the standby mode. I checked that it wasn't on continuous, the ambient temperature was 15 degrees, I noticed that in the setting screen the set temperature was higher, so I decreased it to below ambient and it went off, is this normal to happen in standby?

Yes that is correct.    The default temperature should be around 20C. Ambient temperature is the surrounding air temperature and will vary between zero and 30C or more degrees.

If you leave the control panel it will go off. When touching it briefly will then light up and you can see the ambient temperature. It is then in the standby stage. Touching it again lights up the menu so that you can do alterations.
Have you fitted a backup battery to keep the time and settings i.e. day night?

Yes, I havent fired it up properly yet, was waiting to fill it with water to check the whole system, was also fitting an external switch so it could be started from the bedroom, without leaving on overnight.

Surely it is simpler to use the timer on the control panel?

We have the Alde system and think it is the best 'van heating system we have ever had.

Couple of user suggestions:

1) Space heating thermostat is in back of control panel so does not register 'van temp very well. But, there is a setting to compensate for this. We seem to have settled on +3 deg.

2) Optional extra, easy to fit is outside temp sensor. Nice, but just a bit of a gismo.

3) Optional extra, easy to fit is current limiter. Restricts current drawn by heating element to set value to prevent overload trips. Very useful addition as it is very easy to exceed 16A when heating is drawing say, 2-3 kW and you put an electric kettle on.

Thanks all, we bought this van in August 19 since then we have only used it a handful of times, I didn't like the old user control that's why I updated. With the pump being in the wardrobe next to the bed, and so we can have the ability to turn the heating on in the middle of the night if required, I decided to try to fit the external start, I will keep you posted

With the control panel you can set the heating to come on at i.e. 6am to the default temperature of 20C and it then stays at that temperature all day. Set it to go off at 10pm and adjust the the default temperature to be 18C for during the night.
This entails only one setting for the night time. Problem solved. Suggest the battery backup to be fitted. Easy job and it is only 2 x 1.5v AA batteries.

thanks iank01 I have fitted the battery backup, I feel that with the timer function you are restricted to it coming on at that time. If its a particularly cold night the external start allows for it to be started without getting out of bed, am I lazy? The system allows it why not use it, as johnjory does with his add ons, and as it takes ages to get to temp its another reason for me. Each to his own.

so I have had the new display up and working left it running set the temp to 25 degrees and it switched off ok. so that seems to be working.
I left if for what seemed ages but the temp hadnt dropped much so the external start didnt work, so I left it before turning in for the night, switched the external switch and after a few seconds the pump kicked in, there was nothing on the display, dont know what I expected, I let it run a minute or so then turned it off and the pump stopped, so I am going to try again tomorrow and leave it on to make sure the heating works as well as the pump, stay tuned!!!

If you have set the night mode with temperature set to 17C or 18C, the caravan will stay at that temperature during the night no matter how cold it gets outside. remember you are under blankets or a duvet so will stay warm anyway.
We have ours set to 17C at night and 22C during day so no issue with having to get up to make the caravan warmer. In summer we tend to lower the night temperature to 15C or lower. No need to alter day temperature as heating will stay off. as temperature is higher than 22C.

Do you have the pump that is in the wardrobe beside your wife's head running through the night? Or do you have the inline one!!

Just need to route the cable and fit the switch above the bed

On our previous caravan it was in the wardrobe however it does not run all night. It only runs if the temperature drops below 17C in the caravan. Never bothered OH who is a light sleeper as you can hardly hear it. Our current caravan it is Inline and at the font of the caravan. There may be an adjustment on the pump as the ideal setting is 2 and not 5. I cannot remember as we traded in the previous caravan with the upgraded control panel in 2015.
