New to this, can't get the pump to seal, it fits in ok but the flag thing does nothing & water comes out. They are whale taps & Truma is on the filter latch is missing so don't know what it said on it.

O ring was my 1st thought. I used to put a bit of veg oil on ours to lube it. It needs cleaning off from time to time though.

Again, the O ring is the obvious suspect. They harden, they wear, they get nicks etc. and fail to seal properly. A bit of lubricant may improve things, otherwise a new seal is needed.
Plumbers silicone grease would be first choice, but Olive oil works OK as a seal lubricant and doesn't deteriorate quickly. Lots of vegetable oils (Rape seed etc.) tend to go sticky once exposed to air then become a problem in themselves by becoming more of an obstruction than a lubricant.
Some lubricants (petro-chem based, WD40 and such) may actually damage seal AND plastic housings, so best avoided, plus they may leach into your water, which even if you don't drink cold, you may use for brewing tea/cooking etc. and teeth cleaning, just best not to do it.

The pump housing is a Carver Crystal and the flag things are called security clips. On the rear end of each security clip there is a piece slightly bigger than the shaft itself to stop the clip coming out which also pulls against the rear of the housing to pull the pump flange in and secure it against the rubber 'O' ring. As there is water coming out it can be down to 3 reasons and the first is that the rear of the security clip has broken so just spins with no resistance. Replacements are readily available for about a tenner for the pair but it was a common problem with this housing so check the clips first. The second is that the rubber 'O' ring has perished and not sealing the inlet port which replacement 'O' rings are obtainable for a couple of quid on Ebay. Thirdly, if the security clips and 'O' ring are satisfactory then you have back pressure from the water tank so the non-return valve needs replacing. That was also a common problem with this system unfortunately and even though the non return valve is under a tenner to buy it's a bit of a daunting task to replace it even if you have DIY skills.

Looking at your third picture it appears that the bottom clip is missing. Only the top one is in place. That might not be the whole problem, but it certainly wouldn't help.

Thank you all, O ring & security clips ordered, see how we get on, fingers crossed, failing that it's a new pump.
