Carrying on from a recent thread regarding squeaking noises coming from my caravan and the source possibly being worn friction pads in the winterhoff hitch I have replaced the pads today.

My question is when does the wear indicator reset itself as its still showing as worn or STOP. Is it when I finally hitch up and move ?

I have closed the hitch to the plastic ball on my hitch Lock but it hasn't reset, probably because the plastic ball is smaller than my towing ball ?

Stupid question I know but never done this before.

It will read correctly when it is connected to the tow ball and the handle is pushed all the way down.

Thank you. It must not be correcting itself when I use the plastic ball from the hitch Lock due to it being smaller than the tow ball.

Fingers crossed changing them and using wire wool on the tow ball will stop the blooming squeaking !??!

the indicator reads how far the pads come out.. on a smaller ball the pads will come out further and read as worn..
