I could anyone help me please I have been running my truma heater for a year or so on gas but for some reason it won't start to click and ignite unless I put it on electric for ½ hour or so then the gas heater will work, I have changed battery but still no joy regards Dave
It could be the result of a weak spark which again is down to a battery that's only partly charged. It sounds very much like the case as during that half hour connected to mains electric the charger has boosted the battery enough to created a good spark for the ignition. However, as the above post has suggested, you need a multi-meter and physically check the condition of the leisure battery as it helps to eliminate all the guess work as to what it could be.
the spark on my heater was generated by a couple of AA batteries.. mine was all corroded so i replaced the little battery box.. it had nothing to do with the vans leisure battery..
at a later date it started sparking all the time the fire was on so i fitted a bigger C sized battery box and fitted an on off switch..
Perhaps the flame failure device is slightly out of adjustment and not receiving enough heating effect from the gas pilot light? Using the electric heater for a bit may just give it enough extra heat to keep it running?

blooming cold night it was last night on teesside, let me take a guess you run on blue (butane) gas? if so thats the issue you need red (propane), as that runs to much lower temps
