assuming there is no parasitic draw coming off the battery a new good condition battery will stand for months without much of a self discharge..

smart chargers are not really necessary.. just keep an eye on the battery voltage and give it some charge as and when needed..

but as i said earlier a 150 watt solar panel on the roof will solve all the problems.. more so for anybody that does off grid stays and spends time away from hook ups..

The PS276 failed at some time inside the 7 month lay up period and up until then the battery was a goodun. The only thing I can think of that flattened the battery is the aerial booster which is something I never use (a telly that is) apart from that is the alarm which was switched off or a feed back through the failed charger. From now on I will be checking the condition of the new battery more often, lesson learnt.

On their website they are £119,only time will tell whether or not it lives up to what they say.
There are lots of batteries that are advertised as leisure batteries but when the Caravan club technician dismantled some they didn't meet what is required in the construction of a leisure battery ,at the price you paid it may well turn out to be a good buy.

You have bought it , you may as well use it. No point in spending more money. Trying to send them back is nigh on impossible as Carriers refuse tomcarry them.

"too cheap doesn't really sell well as people expect an inferior product, only a pound or so cheaper is all it takes to win a sale from the competition!"

Unfortunately paying more doesn't necessarily ensure better quality nowadays.
I bought an expensive kettle and matching toaster costing the best part of £100,the kettle leaked 1 day outside the warranty and the toaster either burnt the bread or took so long to toast you got fed up with waiting.

You know I said I was given a Fairstone battery charger that cost me nothing well, yesterday after a 6 hour struggle with two knackered knees I finally finished what should have taken 2 hours max. I switched on and everything kicked in. There was just one bottom screw left which was a pig for me to fit because I can't kneel. I tapped a pilot hole in the ply backboard to get the screw started and the charger went BANG. So now I've got another one on order from Aldi
