If it works ok on gas how come it was a blockage?
I wondered about that! It's a common cooling system to all 3 power sources, how can it work on one but not another if all heat sources functional! Only thought I had on that is that the gas is usually more powerful than either electric heaters, so may just get some performance out of a compromised (partially blocked) system, but would need convincing by an expert on Absorption fridges before being at ease with the notion of incredibly rare partial blockage in cooling system!
Probably a question never to be answered now the old fridge has gone.
Its a strange one really as it worked on gas but not on electric or battery in the end. We have since contacted our dealer (Independent Co.) who we bought the van off (2nd hand) and because we had only had it 4 weeks, he agreed to foot the bill and transferred the money across to me immediately. I thought this was really good of him as you wont get many doing that kind of thing. So now we are happy as we have a new fridge.

That is one remarkable outcome! Congratulations. Hopefully happy caravanning from now on.
In an industry rather too infamous for dodgy dealers, who often won't even stand by their very obvious legal obligations without a fight, (TBH the dealer was obliged by Sale of Goods Act under 'fit for purpose' unless declared faulty and accepted by you at time of sale) your dealer was very honourable and worthy of public praise.
Nice to know there is a good dealer out there. Most people would have to fight for a refund.
At the end of the day you had a great result and glad you got it sorted.
TBH we had resolved ourselves to thinking it was just bad luck and one of those things. When we rang the dealer to say what had happened, we didnt expect the response we got but, there was no quibble whatsoever, he immediately offered to pay for it. Thanks you to all who have responded. We have just spent the last 2 weeks in Lincolnshire with a super cool fridge. Thank you All.

Had it in the workshop, the cooling unit was partially blocked which resulted in a new fridge. New fridge now installed. £1242. £990 for fridge, the rest was labour.
