Hi can anyone tell me if I charge my leisure battery up with a car charger

A car battery is is shallow cycle battery and a leisure battery is a deep cycle battery therefore you need the appropriate type of charger for each application. Yes you can use a car battery charger to charge a leisure battery but the amps output will be greater thus reducing the life of the leisure battery. It's cheaper to buy a smart charger than it is to replace a duff battery that's died prematurely.
There's plenty of information on the net and YouTube regarding the two types of batteries which is advisable to do some research to gain some valuable knowledge. In the long term it could save you money.

Totally agtree with Tango55, I am pretty certain that I knackered my leisure battery by overcharging it, you can buy a very good Smart charger from Aldi or Lidl for about £14, it will keep the battery in great condition even connected for long periods.

Most caravan chargers are very simple devices that are either on or off, but they are designed not to overcharge a battery. I have never seen one with different charge rates, but I'm sure someone will come along and tell me there is one.

If it's the charger you are looking for it may be incorporated within a control panel on a wall or under a cupboard somewhere. My last caravan had a Zig CF9 unit mounted below one of the cupboards, and that had a charger within it.
