Hi all we are in the process of our damp repair. We picked the van up from storage and found brown run marks coming down from the window that wasn't there last week when we stayed in it. Any idea what has caused this or how I can get it off. Excuse the mess of the poor girl in the photo like I said bad damp needs to be dealt with .

Looks like rust streaks possibly from rusted screws in the strip above.
You could clean it with something like Cif paste or T Cut. Of course it could just be some dust or muck washed down.

If you carefully pull the plastic strip out of the centre of the strip above the windows you will be able to see the screws beneath it.
When replacing use stainless ones.

Yes my husband has just ordered stainless screws today. It's a bit of a job getting that old mastic off though . Thank goodness it's nice weather with all these windows out 🙁

If scre3wing into the wood frame behind use brass screws, stainless will react with the wood same as mild steel.

Hi. We bought a Abbey Chorus caravan about 8 years ago. It had been stored under a old corrogated roof. I got it cheap but the front panel had lots of rust streaks on from the tin roof. I tried everything to get them off but not successful. A friend of mine gave some crystals that boat owners use to rust stains off the hull of thier boat hulls. It's was the amazing how good it worked. Within 10 minutes all rust stains gone.

Just to say it's called Oxcalic acid. As far as I know it only works on fibre glass but I'm not sure.

I googled oxalis acid & it comes up with a number of products for wood.

If you Google how to get rust off boat hulls and scroll down to oceanic it tells you about using oxalic acid to get rid of rust stains on a boat hull.

Before I spend anymore money on this repair I decided to use the pink stuff cream cleaner to see if that would work . And it did. It took the rust marks straight off.
