The underside floor in the rear corners of the caravan are water damaged.
I have resealed the awning rail, in the hope this is the cure.
Now planning to cut out the damaged Ply wood and attach new hardwood Ply.
Planning to use adhesive sealant, and possibly screws?
Recommendations if this is the right process please. I assume i should treat the new Plywood. Any product suggestions.
Make sure that the hertz trim hangs a few inches down from the awing rail to act as a drainpipe, or attach something to track the rain down away from the floor.
Its a common problem especially when somebody's tacked the hertz trim underneath to the floor. Theres a few topics on the forum which have pictures to help.
Another common reason for water damage at the rear corners is rainwater running off the back and side panels onto the plywood when parking head-up. This happened to me and I bought a length of plastic 90 degree quadrant and fitted it so that the rainwater dripped off due to the vertical edge.
Don't be tempted to cover the ply in something waterproof like underseal, the wood should breath. However, a breathable solution like Cuprinol Wood preserver will keep water, rot, mould and fungus at bay.
