We have noticed the wall at the back of the caravan is damp and spongey. Please tell me if this can be fixed . We couldn't afford to have it professional done. Photo attached

Hi Sarah and welcome to the forum.

It's pretty likely that it can be fixed but we could do with a bit more information to assist in making a judgement. Make, model, year of manufacture, plus exactly where on the back wall the damage is, all accross, one corner or down one or both sides? Are you, or someone going to do the work had any DIY experience? You don't have to have much, its not rocket science but you will need a few basic tools.
First and foremost the leak that caused the damage needs to be repaired, inside remedial work can be done after that.

Your picture didn't show up so perhaps you could add a few to your forum 'Gallery' and we can have a look.

Caravans are generally quite simple in construction and can be repaired fairly easily if you have some basic DIY experience. I carried out some quite extensive damp repairs to the front of our old caravan last year and we went away with it in September. I could probably have done the work in half the time when I was younger but as I am now in my 70s I am not as flexible as I once was. I had been quoted a minimum of £2,000 to have it done professionally but that was unaffordable for us and quite unrealistic in a caravan that probably isn't worth much more than £1,000. Doing the work myself though cost me just under £200, and £60 of that was for a working platform to get at the outside where the water had been getting in. By far the bulk of the quoted £2,000 was labour charges.
