What year is the Elddis Tornado? I had a 1988 one before the caravan I have now and it only had gas water heating. You say about an "alarm light". Would that be a red light on a small box along with a green light? If so, that would indicate that the Cascade water heater is not lighting properly. The first thing to check would be that the gas is gettng through. As well as the tap on the gas bottle there should be a seperate one for the water heater somewhere near it. Make sure that is on. Sometimes, if the heater hasn't been used in a while, it takes a few goes to get the air out of the gas pipe before it will light up properly.
If the Tornado is a much more recent model, what I have said above may not apply. I don't know when Elddis stopped using the Tornado name.
