Hi

we are just getting our new (to us) caravan ready for it's first outing.  The previous owner never used the shower but I intend taking full advantage it.  The problem is someone has stuck a piece of carpet down in the shower tray with double sided sticky tape.  We have tried to peel it away but it comes off in tiny pieces.  Have tried rubbing it away with our fingers ut that isn't working to well either.  I don't want to use anything that will scratch or damage the shower tray in any way.

Does anyone have any tips?

Thanks

Leanne

Hello Leanne,

Here's a little tip for you. Block the drain holes, and fill the tray with warm soapy water. Go for a cup of tea, or a pint if you fancy and half an hour later the remains of the tape should come off a lot easier.

The carpet mats in showers are lethal as you will slip on them for sure.  When you get the tape off and use the mat again stick the rubber airtex stuff under the mat.  Works a treat and stops you slippng when using the shower as well.

Thanks for all the advice.  I have thought about sticky stuff remover products but was unsure wether they were safe for use on the shower tray.

Will try the hot soapy water tomorrow.

thanks

Leanne

No!  This country would grind to a halt if it wasn't for a cup of tea!

I blame Starbucks for the state of the country today!

The sticky stuff removers were designed as a solution to the problem of getting labels off plastic products without leaving that horrible residue that turns black as it gathers dirt. Actually white spirit will remove most of these gums and meths will remove others. Neither of these will harm the shower tray and the sticky stuff remover will probably have have something in its label blurb that will warn if it is not suitable for plastics.
