The flush stopped working on the C2 in my caravan.  I think I was a bit too heavy handed when I was removing/inserting the waste tank.  I pulled it out to investigate and I found the fuse holder on top of the tank!!!  The plastic has shattered.

I have had a fiddle but I can't get it to reconnect.  My next plan is to either short out the fuse holder or join the in/out wires together and then put an in-line holder in the supply cable.  Anybody got any ideas on how the cables run in the toilet?

Many thanks in advance

Hello there,

I'm no expert in this area, but I had the fuse blow earlier this year, but it was just a matter of locating it from outside, if you know what I mean, and replacing the fuse.

The whole thing is pretty well sealed from inside the van, so I would think that it's a matter of tackling it from outside, but i would be concerned that the main wiring is outside the unit, and therefore would mean taking the whole thing out to get access.

The best of luck!!!!!

David.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure!

Had a similar prob some while back and found it virtually imposible to access the fuse holder except blind with one hand and arm. The power supply apears to be within the sandwiched wall construction so is basically a no go. My solution, though somewhat unprofessional, cut off supply and pick up new supply from overhead light circuit running wire down wall behind mirror. Assuming you have similar design as self (93 ABI Ace), at the bottom of the mirror there is a little ledge. Inside this is a piece of timber, I unscrewed this and cut a part of it away, refitted and in the aperture where I had cut it away fitted a press type switch (ex car electric window type) together with a in line fuse (car radio type holder). Being underneath the plastic moulding of the mirror, the switch is protected from any wet from the shower. This works very well and has done with no probs for about 18 months now. The only alternative I could think of was to remove the complete toilet unit and carry out the required repairs, refitting and resealing, being also the shower room. Being lazy I took the easier option. Hope this might give you some Ideas....Mick

Hi There, I did this exact job last weekend in one hour....If you go to www.Thetford-europe.com...you will find a full schematic diagram showing everything in detail....Anyways...here goes...firstly take off the PRESS flush cover (you will need a long thin phillips screw driver 6 inches plus I think) go outside and take out cassette, Looking top left you will see where the flusher button comes down through the toilet. The whole unit is only held on by four screws (one awkward one half way back) this releases the whole unit and gives easy access to fuse, springs and swithches etc. for easy repair...!!!
