You'll have to take it easy with your personal stuff so you don't overload!

I have heard that the tyres to go for have a "C" mark on them for commercial. They are super reinforced for vans etc and will last a lot longer.

I've heard it all. I've seen it all. I've done it all. I just don't remember any of it.

I put two new 155-13 car tyres on my old Elddis Whirwind before we went away last week in June this year for two weeks 342 miles Durham to Verwood C&CC site (new forest area)TPLM is 800kgs put them up to 34lbs cruised 60mph both ways with no problems. The tyres I took off I had put on 4 years ago and must have done a good few miles, without any problems but I changed them because off very slight cracking around the wall on one tyre wich is exposed to the sun when stored at home

Hi,
I dont want to put you off using car tyres.
But, I have just been through the tyre change thing myself !
My trailer had 155 X 13 tyres fitted ( car tyres ).
It towed ok with no problems.
After seeing a caravan blow out on the A1 motorway I began asking the pro's about the reasons for fitting 8 ply tyres to a caravan " I thought car tyres would do fine as they do carry the weight of the engine in a car and steer on them ".
Anyways autotreads response was this, "trailer tyres flex more than you think due to the height of the caravan and this causes heat in the walls & thats why they blow".
So to cut a long story short the guy sold me 2 new 8 ply tyres fitted and balanced for £60....stuck a good used one on my spare free. ( he also advised me that the pressures should be 49 psi for this trailer with normal load, and car tyres are not safe to hold this pressure )
So either the fitter needed to make a quick £60 from me or you must need 8 ply tyres on caravans.
He did say that some people do get normal car tyres fitted on caravans and they seem to be ok for most, ( he said if anyone get car tyres fitted to a caravan he is not responsable for any tyre damage as it is not recommended ) but the new car tyres were £42 a pair so for the extra £18 I feel like the job has been done correct.
Maybe its just me been paranoid about blow outs and car tyres will work great.
As you can see I am no expert on caravan tyres and pressure....LOL
I am not trying to put anyone off car tyres , this is just my story of how I spent £60.
 LOL...
My education on ply rating is poop so someone might advice a bit better than me.

No, I would agree with all that.  We got new tyres last year and the dealer shopped around for us and got the best deal as the tyres are not all that common. Ours take about 48/50 psi too. We also have Tyron bands fitted.

it states in the caravan manual that some older caravan did use car tyres as standard and the tyre pressures were of a normal car tyre pressure I.e up to 35psi. most normal car tyres will take upto around 36- 40 psi max so your very close to the safety mark. My caravan had car Tyres on it when I bought it and the ride was ok. I decided to renew the tyres including spare wheel for tis season as i didn't know their age , after many hours of study i decided that I would get a set of 8ply Tyres  as the tyres will run better at the correct pressure for the van of 39psi and the fact of knowing i have good  quality commercial tyres under the van gives great peace of mind,  the caravan also tows a hell of a lot better now with much less bucking and swaying.my three tyres cost £120 to be balanced and fitted at my home.

My recommendation is get 8 ply tyres,
