A quick genny question.

I have just brought a generator for my caravan and beach hut.  I brought it mainly to charge up the battery.

My question is:-  Can I charge the battery from both the 12V output and the mains output (via the caravan charger) at the same time?  If not, which is best to use 12V or mains via charger?

Many thanks

I wouldn't charge at the same time !!!!

But if your Genny is like mine, I would connect your Battery charger to the 240v and charge your battery and connect the 12v to your supply (i.e. whatever you are running at 12v) until your battery is charged!!!

The 12v output on many of these generators is not good enough to charge a battery, On the mains side, unless you have a large multistage charger, it will be the most uneconomical method of charging that I can imagine.

It depends what generatoryou have, on my Honda you can use A/C and D/C at the same time but the D/C is specifically designed to charge batteries as the off load output voltage is app 15v.
