Hello what kw heater will I get away with in my caravan without blowing the electrics!!!!

1 kw is about 4 amps, 2 kw  is about 8 amps so work it from there. Most sites are 10 or 16 amps. Remember to allow for things such as the fride etc...

You really don't need to worry about the TV or fridge as they only use a little, but a microwave can be 500-800 watts depending on the size, so you should not use it along with a heater, or kettle, or hairdryer or similar.  Anything that "heats" always uses a lot and should be used with caution.   Most sites will be OK with a 2 kw heater if used alone.

All electrical appliances will have a plate on the back that tells you the wattage.

The things you need to look out for are anything that heats -kettle, heater, water heater, hairdryer, iron.

Thing to remember re microwave is the staed 800w is the HEATINg power, not usage power.As a rough guide double it and take 10% off to get usage power

 

so,

 

800w microwave - 800 * 2 = 1600 - 10% = abou 1440 ish watts  , or 6 apms

From what I remember at school ( too many years ago...) you divide the power by the AC voltage to get the current - eg 2000W divided by 240V equals 8.3Amps.
