I'm buying a new caravan and will probably get a mover fitted. 

As there may be times when I won't have access to the caravan for four or five months at a time I want to make sure that the mover will work when I need it most.

One dealer recommends a Gel Battery due to the fact that it retains its charge for much longer than a standard battery and also apparently it does not emit gases whilst charging.  Another dealer, who normally does not supply Gel Batteries is of the opinion that a standard battery would suffice. 

I must admit I know very little about batteries.  Does anyone know what are the pros and cons of a Gel Battery versus a Standard Battery which might help me make a decision.

Thanks for the link. Certainly, Gel Batteries seem to retain a charge far longer than starter batteries.

What I'm wondering is whether a 85ah or even a 110ah leisure battery would suffice or should I go for the Gel battery.

Considering the overall cost of a mover, I'm prepared to spend an extra £60/£70 if it improves the operation.

Are there any other differences apart from price?  For example,is a gel battery significantly heavier?  

Does a lead acid leisure battery emit fumes when charging?
