I've been looking at caravans, but I would like a cassette toilet most have only been fitted with a portta potty which I consider to be not very neat. So is there any attachment that can convert a porta potti in to a "make believe" cassette toilet. OK I wouldn't expect to empty the cartridge via a flap in the body work, but I would prefer the stability that arrangement would bring. Or has anybody a solution to the problem?
You could fit a new cassette toilet in to the caravan.
Porta Potti's are quite stable though, I've used them in different caravans, in a tent, in an awning & in a toilet tent, and I've never fallen off yet.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
We were determined to only buy a van with a cassette toilet, but ended up port pottying! One weekend into our caravanning life and I don't see the problem - or the great difference. As far as I can see the only difference is the fact you can access it from the outside.
I don't think our casette toilet is any more stable than our porta potti was. Its nice having it inside rather than in the awning or a toilet tent but I wouldn't worry about a porta potti.

the beauty about a porta potty is, its just that you can use it at home ,as i did when we were having a new bathroom fitted. also when we had a large barbecue i put the porta potty in a shed for the gents,to allow the ladies to use the house one. when my wife was ill once we put it in a spare room to save her climbing the stairs every time, very usefull things porta pottys.

Our new van came with a cassette loo but our old porta potti came in very useful for my Dad when his stairlift malfunctioned recently and he doesn't have a downstairs loo! We even fitted his riser seat to it and I'm now having a rethink about floggin' it
We have succesfully caravanned with a Thetford Porta Potty this year, i found as the 'Male' of the Clan i was given the job off emptying it ( why is this always the mans job).
We went to Cornwall for 2 weeks, on average i was emptying the porta potty every 2 or 3 days ( and it wasnt even full) Yet my friend who came with us was emptying his daily because it was full to the brim. Same sized family, same alchohol consumption )ish) each night.........yet his was a cassette toilet....so do cassette toilets have a smaller tank i wonder?
By the way..........we have just sold the caravan we had, with the cassette toilet in favour of what will be a new van with fitted toilet.........what have i let myself into :P
I have found the opposite, the cassette holds a lot more than the Porta Potti and I have to empty it before it's full or I can't carry it to the CD point

If you are intent on fitting a casette loo, it can be done and Practical Cartavan ran an illustrated article taking you thro the procedure a couple of years ago. I'm sure if you contact them via the web site or writing they will dig out the article for you and will sell you the back issue of the mag. Personally, I wouldn't have thought it was worth the expense and bother as the Porta Potty is perfectly servicable. We've got both, casette in the van and PP for the tent but apart from the electric flush not a lot between them......Mick
I have to agree with Mick. In our first van we had a porta potty which was ok, did the job. I never emptied it so Hubby will tell a different story as he prefers the cassette loo in our van now says its is easier to empty. But they both do the job...the same.
I just had to reply to what caz said about a porta potty being stable. I can honestly say I've fallen off one in a toilet tent, but then i did have one too many one night and reached forward for the toilet roll and hey presto! The next thing my hubby and friends were trying to pick me up with the porta potty as well. Just proves there's always one around!!!
