We took up caravaning several years ago to give us more freedom, whilst we would be totally devastated if anything happened to our pride & joy I don’t intend babysitting it every time we go anywhere, done over 5000 miles this year with van without a problem (touch wood) . We take all the security precautions as recommended by our insurance company and only use SOLD SECURE security products.

Had a similar conversation in our local & a local Police sergeant friend says that more caravans go missing from storage compounds and Driveways in middle of the night than a busy motorway services in daylight........

I tend to agree Slimjim, although I have heard tales of folks seeing lowlife approaching unattended caravans at Service Areas and being scared off.

As a one parent family, I would rather leave the caravan unattended than the children. I do try to park where we can see it and don't spend longer than necessary inside. 

With the motorhome we used to have it wasn't a problem as the dogs were sat inside it and wouldn't have let anyone in. Maybe I should move them into the caravan while we use the facilities, instead of leaving them in the car boot.
