We screw ours back in so when we go away again we don"t forget and end up draining the water butt.We have already done that and burnt the water pump out
I dont know where I am going wrong but dont have a drain screw just a lever under the seat by the heater, it seems to empty on the floor outside and I open all the taps too - seems to work ok though.

Don't worry all is well you have a Truma system, the other guys are talking about the older Carver water heaters.

Yep got the same drain lever at the bottom of our water heater .
hi all, after suffering from a stuck non return valve in the water heater, even though the whole system had been drained correctly.i now open all taps and drain plugs and jack up the caravan at one side towards the drain for half an hour to make sure nothing is left in.leave the drain plug in but loose to stop spiders going in.inside the caravan i cover all the heater with old jumpers pushed round all the pipes.(check for mice now and then)
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I always drain mine before leaving the final site of the season, then leave the drain/taps etc open, this seems to get rid of any excess water while travelling.
