Hi, we have a carver cascade mk2 water heater in our 1999 Compass Kensington. We can not get any water out of the hot taps. We have tried replacing the non-return valve, bled the system incase of air locks, tried to back flush the system incase of lime scale & tried to refilled the system with the taps slightly open but we still can't get it to work. When we drained the system only a very small amount of water came out so I don't think it must be filling up.
Please can anyone help as my husband is close to taking a hammer to it!
Hi, we bought the van privately last July and have only taken it way once & it did'nt work then. When we tried flushing it through we did have a trickle to begin with then nothing. My husband has checked to make sure its not frozen.
You need help from Gary (arc systems) but he is away at the moment, back on the 22nd I think. If the problem is not resolved by then I'm sure he will be able to help.
This might sound daft but when you turn the hot tap on is the pump working outside and filling the water heater. If not there is a little micro switch usually under the seat near the heater that controls the water pressure this may need adjusting slightly to operate the pump outside when the hot tap is turned on.
Other than this check that you have not got any valves along the hot water pipes that may have been turned off at sometime by someone. I know these sound silly but we were new to caravans a couple of years ago and what sometimes sounds like the end of the world is realy something simple.
Good luck and i am sure someone on here will find an answer to your problems they always do.
Do you have a carver cascade manual ? , it has a good fault finding chart . If you don't have one send me an email bobanoba86 at hotmail.com and i'll email it to you . in the email address change the word " at " for the normal email symbol and no spaces.
hi if you have replaced the non return valve.try to leave out the drain plug on the outside of the heater, fill up the water barrel, fit your pump and have someone switch on for a minute,if the new valve is not stuck water will come out of the drain hole, this could clear any air trapped too.refit plug and try again.

------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Hi just popped in to have a look and all the talks about cold and freezing pipes!! you should all come to pattaya where it's warm
This blockage, Michael's idea is good and if water flows straight out the drain bung hole then try reverse flushing back though the drain bung hole with a hose pipe but make sure the hot taps are open when you do. If the water inlet drilling is blocked this will often push the blockage back into the tank where it should do no harm.
Hi everyone, Hubby has taken everything apart & has found masses of lime scale blocking the waterways. He is going to give it a good clean out so we will keep you posted.
Hi Karen, If your husband has taken the tank of, please ensure he replaces the large O-ring with a new one, make sure when he refits the tank it sits on the frame nice and square with no movement from side to side before he tighten's the bolt up.
Hi, everything is fitted back together (thanks for everyones advice) the inlet pipe for the cold water was completely filled with mud & lime scale. He managed to clean it out & it now works great.
