This being the first year we had a caravan (upgraded from a tent) - I presume we should get our caravan serviced each year?

What should we expect to pay and what is actually covered during the service?

Tia!

Haggis,,,,,,,,,, It is strongly recommended that anual services are done they range from abot £80 - £150 depending on service centre's and levels of service.

You can have the full van serviced---- gas electrics running gears brakes and damp testing or as little as just the running gear done.

If its a new van it will need dealership or approved service centre

I personaly go for full that way i know it is all in good order and gives me an idea if there are any signs of dampness getting in.

im sure theres a section on this in the features and tips section at the top of the page

All the best

Haggis

I dont know what area of scotland you live in but Duncans Caravans of Wishaw charge £135 for full service but you will have to be quick as they start to get very busy.

wouldnt recommend duncans at all, we bought our van from them and wouldnt touch them with a barge pole.

were getting ours done at Kincardine Caravans, who are very helpful, duncan want your money for your van and after that are not interested, we shopped there for about 10 years, never again

We got our van from Duncans 8 years ago and have it serviced there every year.  They have always been very helpful and efficient and reasonably priced in all our dealings with them.

I dont know much about servicing charges but we pranged our caravan after 1 week and took it back to Knowepark in Livingstone where we bought it. We were really upset and embarrassed. The guys just came out and started putting it back together again as a temporary measure. We were insured (luckily!!!) and made sure they got the job by just submitting one quote.

We picked the caravan up last week. I am amazed. These guys know their stuff! We had ripped the side off the van and it was a hit or miss whether it would get scrapped. I can honestly say we cannot see any signs of damage anywhere. Even although our van is approx 14 years old and the paint has oxidized (sorry about the spelling!).  We will be taking our caravan there to be serviced in the future. They are excellent.
