If you're getting black lines from the guttering on the van try a useful tip that I picked up.
Get some clear plastic pipe - the sort that you use to fill the water barrels and cut some 2 inch lengths off it. Put these lengths over the end of the guttering and the rain water is forced to drain away from the sides of the van. I've had them on since I bought my van and never had the the dreaded black lines. If you're wondering about why they're clear - they don't stand out so much against a white van........
