I am changing the 12N socket on my Ford Explorer. The old one was
fitted by Ford and has wire colours that don't correspond to the
normal UK standard.
I have:
purple/yellow (with a fuse)
brown
black/white
red/yellow
black/green
black/red
grey/red
grey/black

Can any kind soul suggest how to assign these colours to the 1 - 7
pins. (Yes I know I have listed 8 but that's what came out as the
socket came off!)

Thanks for any help

Hello Tamase. I think this is what you want, but PLEASE test with a testlamp to make sure.

LH Flasher = Black/White = pin 1 (yellow)

Rh Flasher = Black/green = pin 4 (green)

LH tail = Grey/black = pin 7 (black)

Rh tail = grey/red = pin 5 (brown)

Stop = black/red = pin 6 (red)

Rear fog = yelow/red = pin 2 (blue)

Earth = brown = pin3 (white)

The 8th wire could be foglamp cut-off, if so you have 8 pins in your old socket. This disconnects car fog lights when pug is inserted.

Thanks to you all. I got it fixed. The pin assignments from LawrieW were spot on.
