Not sure about this one, you could possibly try to stick something over the damp area such as fablon or something to try to mask it. But that could possibly make it worse. Theres always air fresheners as well. How bad is the damp?

I think the only solution is fresh air. We are fortunate in that we have the 'van tucked in the drive, and on a nicer day, can open the door and windows. Perhaps try a blower heater on very low heat for a few hours. Good luck with the family.

Cured ours with a dehumidifier combined with a fan heater, --- but there was no mould showing inside.

You also need to find & fix the source of the ingress obviously; then the horrors will come later

Richard.

noooo dont use Fabreeze it been proven to aggravate asthma and suggested it could even cause asthma ,wouldnt fancy the implications of using it when pregnant .

Wouldnt advise using a damp van either tho ,the spores that cause the damp smell are actually quite harmful

Oh no, we have just bought our first van from and the previous owners had smoked a little in it. So I washed all the curtains and cushion covers but I have also sprayed febreeze onto the cushion inserts! We have a 10 month old girl!

Hi wiser ,it does not affect everyone ,but health officials are just generally warning people about careful of any of these  fragrnaced products around small children or pregnant women ,I would just air the cushions out really well ,I think the main cause for concern is just after spraying when its still in the air so easilt inhailed .

Try leaving a mug of water in the van with 3 heaped teaspoons of sodium bicarbinate added.(about 90p from your local chemist).

Try 1-2 capfuls yellow concentrated Lenor fabric softener in a spray bottle diluted with water, smells lovely and can be used as readily as fabreeze or similar without ill effect.

Thanks for the advice guys, the damp isnt really bad but being pregnant kris has the nose of a bloodhound and can smell a fly fart from five miles away so you can imagine the problem with a small damp smell.

im already using a dehumidifier but will put fan heater on as well.

will anything actually neautrilise the smell?
