On the Oklahoma the switch is on the control panel by the door and the light itself is in the locker at the bottom nearside where it can easily be hidden or covered by contents.
We have a battery in our gas bottle box (designated hole for it as well) and the van is into it's 26th year, I guess that we are just lucky lol.
Funny enough though Michael I was thinking along the same lines as you with the light myself, but as others have said I think that I will stick with the torch now.
Thanks for the information John, I will give it some thought after we have used the van a couple of times. Next week-end we are using as a shake-down trip to test all the plumbing and electrics, also to see if our full awning will need alterations. I hope the porch awning will be o.k. even though the van looks to be a couple of inches taller than our previous one. Wifie is really pleased so far, even though it hasnt been out the storage yard yet. She thinks the cupboard space, especially the big kitchen one, is brilliant. There is even a small cupboard for the dogs food and vacuum cleaner and for the first time my Aquaroll fits in the front locker. We have 2 weeks in July in Scotland we are really looking forward too. Until then its week-ends away whenever we can.
I've taken the right hand side of the shelf out and there is room to park the mobile air con unit at the back with an extra hanging rail for shirts etc at the front .
Stick to a torch afraid im one of those that will tell you gas and electric don't mix as for others who say always done it well 999 times out of 1000 it probably does its that 1000th thats the real bitch and you won't be around to tell them off
