We've had our new caravan for just over a week now. We picked it up last Sat and spent that night in it. I lugged duvets/sleeping bags (for kids) in the car. I knew we were going away again this weekend so left the sleeping bags in there. I then invested in a new duvet set for me and hubby to leave in the van as well. However when I left the van in storage I began to fret! Will they be damp and horrid when we go away again- cabbage Hall meet in 5 or is it 6 weeks time? Don't want to sleep in damp bedding but bought it specially so I had one less thing to remember. What's the best thing to do?

You should be OK. First time we were away, it's just like a bad dew. You can buy stuff for removing damp but I think you should be fine. Keep taking beding out for an airing and all will be well.

It is inevitable that in this country and with a very well ventilated van, your bedding  will pick up a little residual dampness out of the atmosphere,HOWEVER, the bedding that you have left in the van will soon air if, when you come to use it again, you use a little heat combined with ventilation.Just put the heater on low and leave a window open to let the atmospheric dampness disappear.

It could be that in five or six weeks time the weather will have turned and be sunny and warm(who am I kidding!!!) in which case the heat from the sun will have replaced the damp air inside the 'van for dry air. Don't worry, everything will be fine.

We always leave our bedding in the van, just get it out early on the first night to air and all will be fine, went away a couple of weeks ago and next time will be Cabbage Hall so hope to see you there.

 Hi Gill, went to Birchall the other week as a judge , they were doing their in-house drama,dance and music. Had a great time. Other judge was the Lord Mayor of Wigan.
